Food Porn: Falafel Bar

UPDATE: Since this article, the owners of the Falafel Bar restaurants have closed their Allentown location.  They currently have their Sheridan Dr location open in Amherst.

In December of 2008,  I finally tried the Falafel Bar on Allen, right down the street from my work.  I decided to play it safe, and instead of eating hummus wrapped in grape leaves I decided on a chicken souvaki.

The place has a nice atmosphere, some indie kids inside and a very ‘progressive’ couple that were graphic artists from Boston talking to the owner (surprise they were vegans).  The one thing that surprises me everytime I go here is the diversity of the crowd.  It really shows how good the place is because it isn’t the white trendy kids.  This has all ages, all races, and all brackets of income.  The location is small but about 7-9 tables with a ‘bar’ along the window for people on the go.

Now I love Chicken souvaki so much that I was nervous, i’m hesitant to try it places that I’ve never been before.  But this place made a great one, the olives were delicious (minus the de-pitting process I had to do) and their sauce was great.  Check out the pic and check out their locations here.

I really love food and I love living in the city of Buffalo. I'm here to talk about both of those things.
