Food Porn: Gin Mill

The Gin Mill is a bar/restaurant in Ellicottville that I’ve always seen, but never went into.  Normally this place is packed with drinkers and everyone who was skiing at Hollimont until the hill closed (at 4:15pm).  But Alli and I arrived in Ellicottville earlier then normal this weekend, and were able to get in and sit right down.

To start, my #1 favorite thing about Ellicottville is EBC (Ellicottville Brewing Company).  They have amazing beer and their Blueberry beer is the best tasting fruit beer that I have ever drank.  It’s also one of those beers (see Stella Artois) that tastes completely different on tap as oppose to in a bottle (that list coming soon).

So I get excited to have a pint or 2, so when we went to Gin Mill I was excited to see that they did have the Blueberry on tap after all (and with added blueberries).

Today was our lucky day (and it seems lucky week for me) with getting a good specials list.  Saturday they were serving “Jack N’ Blue Cheese Sticks” which are:

Beer Battered Cheese Sticks with Jack, Blue Cheese, and Franks Hot sauce

They were delicious, served with a side of blue cheese.  The Frank’s hot sauce was an awesome addition, and I want to try and make these on my own.  No idea how to do that tho.  Then I had their Mexican Burger, which was basically a burger with cheese sauce and jalapeno peppers.  I don’t know why I got that, but it was good.

It was a very good “pub” meal.  If you haven’t been to Ellicottville i recommend that everyone goes for jusa couple  hours one day.  The town is small and nice, good chocolate store.  lots of Clothing stores (if you like North Face you’re in luck!) and some good restaurants.
