Food Porn: McKinley Mall

I worked at Circuit City in Hamburg, NY for almost 4 years.  For those of you not familiar with the Buffalo, NY area it was (RIP) located right near the McKinley Mall. The Mall in the last 3 years has had some crazy renevations, going from the most ghetto mall in the greater Buffalo area to maybe the 2nd most ghetto mall (Eastern Hills Mall).

The foot court has improved and there are two restaurants that are relatively new and delicious, and are not big chain restaurants.  The first is Cedar’s Pita Pockets serving Greek Food.  I can not tell you how many times I had a closed Chicken Souvaki from that place, it honestly might be in the 40′s – 50′s.  Its where I first loved Greek food and I think begun the process of me eating food that wasn’t chicken fingers or some meal derived from chicken fingers.

The other restaurant is Casa De Burritos, which I’m not positive is the title, but just look for “Casa de ___” and thats it.  A restaurant that took the place of a Burger King, anything they could have done would come across better.  One of my favorite meals was pretty simple Nacho’s Deluxe, but what excited me was I could do chicken instead of beef.

However, here are two pics from those restaurants:

This is called a hot slouvaki and is basically chicken with feta cheese, Greek dressing, tomatos and hot peppers all served ontop of French fries. For 7.95 it was very filling and one of Cedar’s finest menu items.  Also for dessert I highly recommend the Baklava, a wonderful pastry.

This is basically a “Taco in a Bag”, while by name and apperance completley white trash.  The thing is damn tasty, I have had this before at the Orchard Park High School athletic field and ti was good.  At Casa De Burrito however, you can add lettuce, tomato or anything you normally can put on a taco.  With the option of beef or chicken and the choice of Dorrito’s or Frito Lay’s.

I really love food and I love living in the city of Buffalo. I'm here to talk about both of those things.
