Impress The Ladies: Dougy Fresh’s Veggie Pizza Recipe

fires_ovens_a

My friend Doug sent me a message the other day raving about this Veggie Pizza he mad that was phenominal.  So naturally I asked him to share with the world his latest concoction so that others may enjoy it.  So here is Dougy Fresh’s Veggie Pizza recipe:

Start off by making the “white sauce”:
-Start by making a rue, 2 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of flour
*Melt butter in pan, slowly add flour stirring until thoroughly mixed
-Slowly whisk in 1 cup of milk, adding gradually
-Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 clove of garlic (i used minced, from a jar), 2 tablespoons of fresh basil (minced), and 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese to the sauce. It will thicken upon standing.

*You can make your own pizza dough, but I’m a bit lazy and bought pre-made Boboli pizza dough

Toppings:
-You can use pretty much any veggies of your choice
I sliced up zucchini, onion, and mushrooms and sauteed them in butter to soften them up a little bit. Be sure not to cook them too long, otherwise you will have soggy toppings.

Cheese:
-I used a mix of store bought shredded Cheddar Jack and shredded a minor amount of Habanero cheese (i like it a bit spicy) and mixed them together.

Assembly of Pizza:
-pretty standard, apply sauce on the pizza dough and spread, add your mix of cheese, then add your slightly sauteed veggies.

A side note, for even more flavor, you can melt some butter in the microwave and baste some on the edge of the crust and sprinkle garlic or more Parmesan cheese or even sesame seeds. Totally the individuals preference. Hope you yourself try the recipe out, its super easy and awesome!!!

Also cooking times vary due to what heat you use and how well done you like the pizza!!

There you have it, Dougy Fresh’s veggie pizza…delicious.
