Food Porn: Destini’s Pizza

Since I’ve lived in Allentown, we’ve had various menu’s shoved in our mailbox.  Over and over I’ve had a menu for Destini’s Pizza put on our front steps.  Located near the corner of Main Street and Allen, the menu looked pretty standard.  Just another Pizza place downtown, so I kind of ignored the menus and kept ordering from Zetti’s and Just Pizza.

However, I’ve been looking for a new a new lunch option that would be fairly cheap and fast and it seemed like it was a good time to finally try out Destini’s.  So my coworker Sue and I ordered a 13” pizza to go, half black olives and half onions.  Here’s how our lunch went:

In full disclosure I have to say that we arrived a couple minutes after they said it would be ready and it was about a 10 minute walk back to my house before we finally sat down and ate.  So freshness could easily be blamed on myself, which was a bit lacking.  Destini’s does have a couple of booths inside but not that many (I think I counted 4), so the option of eating there is possible.  During the summer time you can also sit outside.

I was expecting something closer to Just Pizza and other well known Buffalo pizzerias; you know something that wasn’t thin like a NY Style Pizza but not as thick as a Chicago Pizza.  But the pizza at Destini’s was incredibly thin and very crunchy, honestly even thinner then some of the NY Style places around here.  It took me be surprise but I actually liked it as this thin Pita like crust was rather tasty.  Regardless, it was a little heavy on the sauce (I like it that way) and both the olives and onions were great toppings.  For you big eaters out there (like myself) you might want to order a large pizza, I almost devoured the entire 13” myself.

They do have some lunch specials if you work in the area, so you can grab a couple slices, their “Wing Dings,” or a few other lunch- only deals.  They also have a deal for every day of the week, so keep an eye out for those.  If you are looking for a new lunch option and enjoy incredibly thin pizza I suggest giving it a try.
