Buffalo Foodies: Love Scenes

Continuing with our goal of having more Buffalo Foodies from Buffalo’s local music scene, today we are pumped to introduce Love Scenes as our newest Foodie.  Love Scenes is the collaboration of two Buffalo locals, Leah Loefke (LL) & TJ Grace (TG) and they’ve been on my radar since watching them perform at the Buffablog Birthday celebration last month.  Their songs incorporate Leah’s soothing voice over some great electronic pop music; San Fransico has been on my  “Sunday Morning Hangover” playlist for a while.

I highly recommend you “like” them on Facebook and watch them perform live, they’ll be playing at Record Theatre (on Main and Lafayette) for Record Store Day at 3:30pm on April 16th.  You’ll also be able to hear them being interviewed on WBFO a couple nights before on April 14th at 7:30pm.

Where are some of your favorite places to eat in Buffalo/WNY?

LL: I love the food and atmosphere at Ambrosia. The servers are always super nice there too. Towne is always nice for a veggie omelet. I also like Chef’s and La Bella Sicilia.

TG: I too really like Ambrosia. And Mythos. However, Left Bank would be my favorite restaurant. Hutch’s is around the corner from me, and even though I’m descending deeper and deeper into debt, I still enjoy eating there from time to time. Bruno’s in Amherst has amazing pizza. And it may sound lame, but I love Mighty Taco.

Where do you like to grab a drink on the weekend or after work?

LL: I like DBGBs. I’ve only been to Noir once but I’d like to go again. It was jammin’

TG: Well, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the weekend for me to drink, but I’ll go to the usual spots: Pearl Street, DBGBs, the Pink, Encore. My friend Mac from Buffablog has mentioned Founding Fathers which I need to check out. I’m not into Chippewa (which, by the way, I’ve heard is Native American for ‘drunken white people’), but Skybar is very cool in the summer.

If you had a friend visiting from out of town, where would you go to show them a good time in Buffalo?

LL: I’d take them to Cafe Aroma and then maybe hang out in Bidwell Park or Burchfield Penney Art cCenter.. a nice dinner at Saigon Bangkok and then catch a local show.

TG: Depending on the situation, maybe Club Pure, it’s intense in there. I was there last summer, felt like I was in Miami, FL at a dance club or something. But all anyone mentions when they come to Buffalo is wings. Didn’t Obama go straight to Duffs when he visited last year?

What are some food memories from your childhood?

LL: Sounds gross but mac and cheese with cut up hotdogs was a fave of mine when I was little, as well as french toast. Also started crying once when a group of waiters sang happy birthday to me, may have been 5 or 6.

What do you wish Buffalo had more of?

LL: Sun!

TG: Jobs. No, but seriously we  love Buffalo (minus the winters). The city has been supportive of our music and we are very grateful.

We’d like to thank Leah and TJ for taking time out of their busy schedules to answer a couple of our questions.  You can check some of Love Scenes songs on their Myspace page or you can watch some of their live performances on YouTube (San Fransisco, Try).

I really love food and I love living in the city of Buffalo. I'm here to talk about both of those things.
