As some of you may have noticed, Buffalo Eats has been on a bit of a hiatus for the past week or so. Well, we (Donnie and Alli) got married this past weekend (wooooo!), and with the craziness of last minute details there just wasn’t enough time to post any food porns. For anyone interested, we tied the knot at Harrys Harbour Place (actually now under new ownership and will have a name change soon to Acqua). It was incredible; the banquet room (and the rest of the restaurant) is gorgeous, the food was great, and the being on the waterfront was really really nice. If any of our readers out there are looking for a place to have a wedding or any big event we highly recommend Harry’s (again, soon to be Acqua). The staff is great and everything ran smoothly the entire night.
And this wouldn’t be a proper Buffalo Eats post unless we talked a bit about the food. For our dinner choices we had Strip Steak, Stuffed Chicken, or Almond Crusted Salmon. All delicious and all cooked perfectly. Unlike at some weddings where the steaks are cooked to a “safe” well-done, our steaks were almost medium-rare and when we were making the rounds as people were finishing dinner we noticed everyone’s plates were empty. (Sorry the pics of the steak and salmon below are not of the best quality, we quickly snapped some phone pics before we ate).
Our cake was from Muscoreils and we cannot praise that place enough. The cake was incredible and, as you can see in the pictures, perfectly pink to go with our (Alli’s) pink theme. (Yes, she smooshed it in my face). And, like all of their desserts, it was delicious; we had people all night asking if they could have more. We had two flavors, red velvet with cream cheese filling, and marble with chocolate chip creme filling. The cake was fluffly and moist and the frosting was incredibly creamy and sweet. They don’t believe in freezing the top layer of cake to save (as is the tradition), so on your one year anniversary they provide you with a free (fresh) cake instead. The staff at Muscoreils was nothing short of fantastic for the entire wedding planning process. They are also very reasonably priced and can create any design you want.
All in all it was a great day. On a side note, all of you Buffalo Lovers will enjoy the fact that instead of table numbers, we had Buffalo themed table cards (Buffalo Sabres, Chicken Wings, Tim Hortons, Allentown, etc). It was a really cool touch that our guests really enjoyed. Our head table was, of course, the Buffalo Eats table. If anyone is interesting in stalking out some wedding pictures, feel free.
Thank you to everyone who has sent us well wishes these past few months. We don’t leave for our honeymoon (to Europe!) until the end of June so until then you can look forward to some new food porns (Buzzy’s, Old Man River, Dug’s Dive) and the beginning of some really cool new features (think “Man vs. Food” Buffalo-style…). Also, don’t forget that the Allentown Art Festival is this weekend (June 11th and 12th). Come out and support your local artists and enjoy all that Allentown has to offer.

Congratulations!
