The restaurant itself looks great and you can tell they have recently remodeled the place; it still has that “new” shine and what looks like newly painted exterior. The extra money put into renovating this place clearly shows but overall the casual atmosphere reminded me of almost any Pizza/”red sauce Italian” restaurant in Buffalo (not a bad thing). It was full of families and you are expected to go up to the counter to pay for your food when you’ve finished your meal.
Along with the Medium Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza (that choice seemed pretty obvious) we decided to order some Chicken Wings and wanted to get something different then our normal Medium sauce. We ordered a single order of their Honey Garlic Wings. The sauce was very heavy on the honey and I actually had to go to the bathroom to wash the stickiness off hands before trying to eat pizza. The wings themselves were cooked fantastically; really crispy and juicy inside but I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce. I was hoping for some type of garlic to balance out the intense sweetness of the honey but there wasn’t even a hint.
Our waitress had came over a couple minutes after placing our order to ask if we wanted our wings served first; apparently they had made too many Chicken Wings so we got our order right away (which was great since we were starving). We finished off the entire order before the pizza arrived. First off, the crust was fantastic, it had a great crispy bite without being burnt and it actually reminded me of a really good bread stick. The center of the pizza was a little messy so you had to eat it with a knife and fork. The sauce was more savory than other sweeter sauces Buffalo might be known for and had a strong kick of basil. It was finished off with a good helping of whole-milk mozzarella. Alli and I were very pleased and almost finished off the whole pie.
I could understand how someone could go to Buzzy’s and have a poor experience; we lucked out with a good server but I saw several tables that were getting mad about waiting for food or their check. The food, specifically our pizza, was delicious and anyone who’s shopping at the Outlet Mall should take a short drive down Niagara Falls Blvd and try it out. In terms of “New York Style Pizza” it’s probably some of the best I’ve had in Buffalo (not that there’s a lot of options, but still).
