In case you haven’t read the article by Samantha Christmann in The Buffalo News, it doesn’t look like Scharf’s Schiller Park Restaurant will be open for much long (at least at their current location). According to their current financial status this German restaurant on the East Side will be closed by the end August.
Or maybe they won’t. Just a couple days ago I noticed a new twitter account @SaveScharfs had started following me. A couple hours later I received an email from Kellie Mazur who’s behind this “Save Scharf’s” campaign, she told me that on Monday July 30th from 5pm-9pm there will be a big fundraising party at the restaurant. The first 30 attendees will be getting limited Scarf for Scharf’s beer steins, additional German themed giveaways will be going on through out the night and you can join the crowd in singing 99 bottles of beer while eating delicious and traditional German fare.
This might be one of your last chances to visit this historic restaurant, so stop by and grab a pint and a bite to eat and help this restaurant stick around for another 45 years.
