New Castle’s Werewolf ‘Blood’ Red Ale in Stores Now

I’ll be honest, I don’t drink Newcastle that often. Besides my tradition of buying a mini keg of their Brown Ale for the St Patrick’s Day parade, I normally don’t think to order it at a bar or buy a 6 pack at the store. But I do enjoy that brown sugar sweetness on occasion, which is why I was so excited to receive a couple bottles of their new seasonal beer Werewolf in the mail (just in time for Halloween).

The beer has a lot more carbonation right off the bat, along with a strong bitter taste. As the beer warmed up and became closer to room temperature, I noticed the bitterness start to mellow our and it actually became more drinkable and enjoyable. If you are a lover of Newcastle’s Brown Ale, you aren’t necessarily going to love this beer. There aren’t many similarities, flavor wise, between the two. If you like bitter beer, this is for you.

Werewolf will be in stores through October, you can look forward to the next seasonal flavor Winter IPA in November.
