One of the unexpected perks of running Buffalo Eats is occasionally receiving samples of various food products; it’s pretty awesome. Just a couple days ago we received an email about trying a new Buffalo-Style Chicken Soup from Campbell’s. It’s one of their newest products and they wanted to see what some select Buffaloians thought, you can see Buffalo.com’s reactions here.
Since both Alli and I have been fighting off colds this weekend, we thought it was perfect timing to try a bowl of this new soup. So after the Bills win yesterday, we heated up a bowl of their soup in our microwave.
The first thing we noticed was the soup tasted more like a cheese soup then any Buffalo Wing Soup that we’ve tried around WNY. While the can doesn’t mention the words “Buffalo Wing” soup, we assumed “Buffalo-Style Chicken” meant some type of hot sauce/blue cheese combination. Instead their soup uses cheddar cheese and had a small amount of heat at the end of each sip but without any hot sauce flavor. The broth was fairly thick and was loaded with carrots, celery, potatoes and pieces of chicken.
If you were looking for a hearty, cheesy soup then I think you’ll probably enjoy a bowl of this. But if you are expecting a Chicken Wing-like soup that you’ve had at dozens of restaurants in the area, you’ll be disappointed.

Oh . . . Yuk.
