I spent the summer of 2006 working at Consumers Beverages in the village of Orchard Park. It was during that summer that I learned to love good beer. Before that job I really didn’t know any better, I would go to a bar and order whatever was cheap. But thankfully I learned the error of my ways and I found out the beauty of Belgian Witbeers, Dogfish Head Brewery, Chocolate Stouts and other fantastic beers of the world.
I’ve decided to bring that Beer love to Buffalo Eats, while Buffalo has only one “true” brewery (and I highly suggest their Rusy Chain or Baron von Bisonfest) we luckily have several establishments that provide some of the finest beers from all over the country/world. Whether its one of our many bars with a fantastic selection of beer or shopping at our various specialty stores, it’s not that hard to find good beer in Buffalo.
Beer Porn will be our opinions and thoughts on a particular microbrew, where you can find it (if we like it) and anything else we feel like talking about. If you are new to this world of microbrews then here is the best way to get started:
- Need to learn about beer? Check out Beer Advocate, this site started by two brothers in Boston has grown exponentially over the last couple of years. Check out the reviews and descriptions of various styles of beer, they even have a great Buffalo/Rochester Beer Guide.
- Want to buy said beer? Well I highly recommend Village Beer Merchant on Elmwood Ave, they have about 10 beers on tap for growlers and have started selling single bottles for people who want to try a beer without committing to the full 6 pack. I also highly recommend visiting the Premier Gourmet shop on Delaware Ave (near Sheridan). They have a gigantic selection of single bottles (probably the biggest in Buffalo) and is a great place to mix and match and try out a bunch of new beer while keeping the costs low.
